Billfish with DSRV
DSRV Avalon is mated to USS Billfish (SSN 676) during international rescue exercise Sorbet Royal 92, September 1992.
The Billfish visited St. Croix and Puerto Rico during 1982 while conducting excersizes in that region. Various weekly operations followed until it was back to Portsmouth for a major overhaul until June of 1983. That is where this author left the boat, and needs help to complete this page.

It was back South in 1984 to Puerto Rico, and training operations in that area. Captain Jones relieved Captain Okeson. Then it was back to the Medditerranian later that year.
In Ice Pac '87 the Billfish, along with USS Sea Devil and HMS Superb, made history by surfacing together at the North pole. It was also the first international surfacing at the pole. During this trip the Billfish remained submerged under the cap for 67 days, which was also a record at that point.
